The history begins in 1999, when akut, case and rusk started common projects. During the first two years the trio mainly met up in weimar/germany. Tt was rusk who first made contact between case and akut on one side, and tasso on the other. For akut, case and tasso it was easy to work together and to complement each other, as they had already focused on photorealistic spraying irrespectively of each other. Finally it was tasso who gave the name to the crew on january 2001.

SHOE
Street-edge meets high-end design as contemporary Dutch calligrapher, typographer and designer Niels Meulman, also known as graffiti artist “SHOE” from the legendary Crime Time Kings explores the contours of words as images in “Calligraffiti” – his hybrid art form which blends calligraphy and graffiti. He presents for our viewing pleasure a wonderful interplay of contrasts, such as ‘black-white’ and ‘rise-fall’, with a series of fast phrases and upbeat witticisms in the form of captivating typographic masterpieces.

«artacks» ist ein vagabundierendes Kunstprojekt. Da wir keinen festen Sitz haben, sind wir stets auf der Suche nach temporären Raumangeboten. Diese stellen wir jungen Künstler/-innen als kreativen Spielplatz zur Verfügung. So kreieren wir im urbanen Raum Situationen, in denen Künstler/-innen und Publikum gleichermassen aktiv im Zentrum des Geschehens stehen. «artacks» is a roaming art project on constant quest for temporary exhibition space. The aim of «artacks» is to provide talented artists with perfect playgrounds to express their passions and to create situations that emphasize equally the roles of artists, audience and Space.

Style needs no color

„Schwarz auf weiss“ basiert auf der Idee, durch den Verzicht von Farben das Wesentliche in den Mittelpunkt zu stellen: Style! Auf den einzelnen Buchseiten fügen sich ausgewählte Character, Styles und Vektorgrafiken von internationalen Graffiti- und Streetart-Artists zu einer grafischen Umsetzung der „style needs no color“ Philosophie.

Mac 1 has been painting with spray cans for nearly 20 years and has gained a reputation as one of the finest photorealistic graffiti artists in Europe. Mac 1 often has to explain his technique to viewers of his work, as his hyper realism freehand style is often accused of being rendered with an airbrush. Over time he has become much more loose with his style, which has given the artist more freedom to explore the sensitivity of the line. Mac has recently been using acrylic and also oils to further expand his work range.

Over the years Mac has worked for many varied clients, including Bruno Spinner, Ambassador to Rome; Dermot Reeves, ex England Cricket Captain; Dr Daniel Vassela,the Chairman of Novartis; BBC; Jibbering Art and has exhibited in many group shows in the UK and abroad.
